Mmmmm, french fries....

Hubby and I have a diesel car. O.O

Yes diesel. It's loud, it smells, but its a lot more environmentally friendly than some people think. (Actually it doesn't smell that bad.) Diesel is all about fuel efficiency. With hubby's car, we could technically drive all the way to Edmonton without filling up once. NICE!!! (of course we would never try it) If anyone was using gas, you could never get away with that.

Anyway, aside from having a diesel, hubby has tinkered with the car to make it even more fuel efficient, including lightening the car, increasing air intake, tinting the windows so we don't have to run A/C that often, changing to lighter weight wheels, and some other things. Don't ask cuz I wouldn't be able to tell you.

Our latest effort to make it more environmentally friendly is using BIO DIESEL!!! I'm a fan of biodiesel. Why? It can be made locally, and can be made out of used vegetable oil - stuff you can get from your own kitchen or any fast-food restaurant like Burger King or McDonalds. It also burns cleaner. How brilliant!! Less reliance on foreign countries for fuel, re-using waste products, and using a product that burns cleaner. :)

It isn't available everywhere though. We have to go to New Westminster to get it. But it is worth it for us. And no, we're not wasting fuel to go to New West to get bio-diesel. We're using some fuel to get there but really....when a tank of bio-diesel lasts us 2 weeks of going to and from work (from one end of town to the other), going to New West is barely a drop in the tank.

I do wish, however, that biodiesel would be more widely available, and more people would know about it. It really is better for the environment. And apparently, the exhaust even smells a little like french fries. I wonder if that's just a myth? Anyone want to sniff exhaust fumes?? o.O


p.s. Does anyone know why people would need to drive a Hummer or H2 in the city???? Why would you need one at all???
