Turning greener by the minute....

green as in environmental, not the jealousy kind. ^^

Hubby and I watched An Inconvenient Truth last weekend and thought it was quite good. I learned some new things, like polar bears are actually drowning because they can't find ice. :(

>.<

And yeah....while we were watching the movie, it was pouring rain outside. We had a months' worth of rain in one day. Yeah....more irregular weather, which caused more flooding in people's homes.

The weekend before, hubby bought an energy reader from Canadian Tire that reads how much energy the appliances are using. We now turn off our power bars when we aren't using things, such as the computers, some lamps, and the TV because...yep, they still suck energy when they aren't even on. We already use the energy efficient light bulbs wherever we can, among a list of other things. When given the option, we stay away from purchasing over-packaged things too, and I know we're not the only ones. This year or next, we plan to install power into our garage. We're thinking of solar energy. A compost will be set up this year too, which I believe I've mentioned before.

And uh....does having daylight savings time a few weeks earlier actually save energy?? For the 9 am - 5 pm working masses, I haven't noticed much of a difference. By the time I get home, there is still some light but its dark enough that I still need to turn on my lights to see, unless I want to chop off a piece of finger while preparing dinner. Is there a difference?? Not that I've noticed.

The world needs to try harder. And not just TRY harder. The world needs to do MORE. I can't believe I've become so pessimistic about this stuff but sometimes it feels like the world is really doomed.
