War, Memory, Tributes...

I remember, when in Ottawa, I visited all the great museums the city had to offer. One of the more memorable ones, to me, was the Canadian War Museum and all the tanks and artillery they had on display outside. Inside, there were uniforms, artifacts, pictures and videos. I was excited to learn at the time, they were planning on moving and building a larger one.

I remember visiting the war museum in Calgary, and taking the time to read every display there was. It took me 2 hours to even make it to the Gift Shop And I did almost the same thing on my second trip.

I remember the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Ottawa and the ceremony that was held there.

I remember when I was a small child, my first Remembrance Day assembly at school, singing the national anthem, singing Remembrance Day songs, hearing other songs and poems performed by the different classes.

I remember the stories my uncles and mom and told us, and gaining a better understanding of their attitudes and behaviours that resulted from their experiences.

I remember why there is a Remembrance Day, and I will remember my 2 minutes of silence, at the eleventh minute of the eleventh month, on November 11.
