Housekeeping never seems to stop...once you've got a house....
Especially when the house is an older one and we haven't even spent a year in it.
So last Victoria Day weekend....hubby decided he wanted to expand the patio area we built. Expand it to kill more grass, which means destroying half of the garden I had going (which flowers were beginning to sprout), and more grass and dirt to get rid of.
It wasn't so bad really, aside from it being really sunny and dry on Sunday, making digging much more difficult since the soil was nicely compacted. And of course with little moisture in the air, sand was blowing everywhere and same with the pollen.... My poor hubby had to do all the digging himself since I was getting allergic. Grrrr.
I managed to help on Monday though because it was raining a little. We put down the rock and the exposed aggregate tiles or whatever they are called and finished it off! We will also be creating a "rock garden" in the front side of the house to get rid of more grass, and to use up some of the dirt we dug up. I use "rock garden" loosely because it will just be a pile of dirt evened out on top of the grass, with liner on top, and rock on top of that. Yaay, less grass!! Did I mention I'm allergic to grass? Yeah, I'm allergic to grass. And hubby hates mowing it (esp. with all the weeds we have), so it all evens out.
We'd still have a lot of grass though. Yeah...we've got a big yard. I think we actually have more yard than house. It's nice for any barbeques though.
